Embracing the Currents: An International Conference on the Sulu Archipelago: Scholars Converge for the Kick-Off The University of the Philippines—Center for Integrative and Development Studies and Mindanao State University Tawi-Tawi, in collaboration with the Philippine Studies Association (PSA, Inc.) and with support from the Australian National University (ANU) Philippines Institute, inaugurated “Embracing the Currents: An International Conference on the Sulu Archipelago” today, November 12, 2024. This multi-day event will bring together a diverse range of scholars to discuss the Sulu Archipelago's unique cultural, historical, ecological, and geopolitical dynamics. As a region of immense significance, the Sulu Archipelago serves as a bridge between communities and cultures, offering new perspectives on its evolving role in local and global narratives.
