**MSU TCTO Joins the 1st Philippines Small-Scale Fisheries National Symposium! 🌊🐟** The Mindanao State University - Tawi-Tawi College of Technology and Oceanography (MSU TCTO), under the leadership of Chancellor Mary Joyce Z. Guinto-Sali, proudly participated in the First Philippines Small-Scale Fisheries National Symposium (1PSSFNS) from October 16-18, 2024, in Iloilo City! Organized by the National Consortium for Small-Scale Fisheries Research and Development, known as Too Big to Ignore (TBTI) Philippines, this groundbreaking symposium brought together leading higher education institutions to promote sustainable small-scale fisheries (SSF) nationwide. The event aimed to foster dialogue and collaboration on advancing resilient and sustainable practices within the SSF sector. Chancellor Guinto-Sali was joined by Ms. Yennyriza Abduraup from the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Extension (OVCRE) and Ms. Merfat Sali, a BS Marine Biology student from the Institute of Oceanography and Environmental Science. Both contributed to the symposium through research presentations in oral and poster sessions. Themed “Small-Scale Fisheries in the Philippines are Too Big to Ignore,” the symposium gathered a diverse array of stakeholders, including fishers, scientists, LGU representatives, policymakers, students, NGOs, media, and heads of TBTI member institutions. MSU TCTO is honored to be at the forefront of this vital movement, working towards a sustainable future for small-scale fisheries in the Philippines! #iLoveMSUTCTO #CreatingOpportunitiesTransformingLives #SDG12ResponsibleConsumptionandProduction #SDG14LifeBelowWater
