In a significant gesture of furthering ties with academic institutions abroad, the University has forged two important agreements: a Memorandum of Agreement and a Memorandum of Understanding with the Universiti Teknologi Mara, Malaysia (UiTM).

Chancellor Mary Joyce Z. Guinto-Sali signed both documents in a historic visit at the UiTM in Shah Alam, Selangor, Darul Ehsan in Malaysia last February 7. UiTM was represented by Prof. Dr. Datuk Shahrin Sahib Sahibuddin, FASc, Vice Chancellor (Chief Executive Officer) of UiTM; and Prof. Dr. Hjh. Farida Zuraina Mohd Yusof, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences. With the Chancellor were Dr. Kartini R. Tahir, Director for International Linkages; Director Alnasul K. Sali, Chief-of-staff; and Assoc. Prof. Rosalio G. Artes, International Affairs Officer.

This MOA and MOU signing is significant step in building stronger ties with Malaysian universities and to show commonalities of MSU-TCTO on its shared vision of providing quality education with its counterparts in the BIMP-EAGA, and the greater ASEAN region.

UiTM is Malaysia's largest institution of higher learning in terms of size and population and the largest university system in the country. Besides the main campus in Shah Alam, the university has expanded nationwide with 34 branch campuses, which collectively offers more than 500 academic

programmes.
